kind of like dancing in the rain

So on Friday night the Shins rocked. Amazing live show. Amazing. There are no words. Only a few awkwardly snapped pics.

Not coincidentally, there are no words for how sad I am that I missed that concert. The closest I can come is my description of what I was doing while I could have been at that concert, which is to say, sitting in the Las Vegas airport having a perfectly miserable time.

I hadn't seen you so happy...ever. It was great.

As always, my enthusiams are rarely documented by my photogenicity. That concert was quite possibly the best concert ever. If I were the type to have man-crushes, I would totally have one on James Mercer.

So these same Shins played two--that's right two--shows in Lawrence, KS. I went to the first one. And yes, it rocked. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't play "The Celibate Life," but other than that it exceeded my expectations. My favorites songs were the scorching opener "Sleeping Lessons," "Know Your Onion!" and the heart-wrenching "Gone for Good." I'd say they can cut the mustard, but that would be corny. Glad you had a good time.

Even though I have no musical taste, I wish I had been there to see you all.

Because I'm that kind of guy. I miss you all.
