I already showed this to K, but I was wondering what everybody else thought. And I don't think K has seen this draft.
Captions: Three Photographs
When sitting side by side
you give something up.
In one minute
the conversation will begin.
The sky is blue. The sea
is blue. There is no blue
in this picture.
The man holds her
between his fingers—
The woman, in turn,
turns, rotating herself
away from him.
Is there a God in this picture?
A conversation stops
every seven minutes.
When standing face to face,
you give something up.

oh ha, kapka, very funny. that poem WAS about me, and you both know it. sadly, it doesn't really matter much now, and I'm demanding a revised edition of "mary's almanac" that is even MORE about me than the first one.
Don't put demands on the artist. The artist must have room to create.
