the guilt

I've been beginning for the move in April. Because I will be moving, academic future or no. But seven years equals a lot of stuff. Books, movies, clothes, pillows. Two of my couch pillows must have mated, because they are taking over my apartment. So most of those have to be put to sleep.

I have no problem getting rid of clothes. Pillows. Random food storage. But CDs, movies, magazines, and books--it's as if I've decided to chuck my friends into a plastic bag. There's no way I can take them all with me. Maybe the CDs and DVDs in media folders. Maybe. But the books. . .

I stumbled over a solution tonight: selling books to a used bookstore in Salt Lake. They won't be subjected to the shame of DI, but still. . . am I doing the right thing?

Best option is to go to FYE in Orem and sell the cds and dvds there, when they've decided on the amount, they'll give you cash, or if you want in store credit they give you a card in which your total is on which can be used at any FYE. So when you move you can get some stuff back or new stuff. What I am doing cause I too am moving and have way too much. Is I'm taking the essentials with me and then boxing the rest and leaving them with my parents and when I have money I will send it to them and they can mail it out to me. When it's CDs and DVDs you can do Media Mail which takes a lot longer but is lots cheaper. If you don't want to leave them with your family leave them with a trusted friend.

That is a very unpleasant thing to have to do. I empathize and can't pretend to know the right answer.

NO!!! You can't sell the books. No! I weep for you and them. The poor dears.

It is ALWAYS better to put them in boxes until you can be reunited. Oh! the sadness!

Keep the books!! Store them at your parents house or something. I'm sure they'd be pleased as punch to help out. Actually, maybe selling back any Jane Austen books would okay. . . or at least any of those shameless Austen exploitations like Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife and whatnot. Take those to the D.I.
